Leaving the Glowsheep
A visual novel about someone called Al who should probably escape from a dragon tamer but isn't sure what will happen if they do. The dragon tamer is a necromancer that seems to turn people into ghosts, although the story is sorta vague about what he gets the ghosts to do. There's also another cahracter that tries to help the dragon tamer and some that try to help Al. Made for the Spooktober VN jam.

## Changelog
Version 1.1 changes the default music volume (if you've already played the VN or you're playing the web version, the old volume setting might have got saved, you can turn it down in the preferences screen though). It also fixes a bug where entering the inn without having been in the park could sometimes crash the game.

I really liked the atmosphere and the worldbuilding in this game! So many interesting details of this land and characters, and the main characters all felt very sympathetic (except the antagonist of course)!
I admit I’d have liked a little bit more to the script so we could learn more about the background and situation with the dragon tamer, and Al’s abilities, but I release jam projects do have their limitations, or maybe you wanted to keep it more mysterious.
Probably my favourite scenes were with the bard - his song was delightful, and then when he tries to give Al a poem, and Al says “no, I don’t need this” – that made me laugh so much. Absolutely devastating response. It's a bit of a shame you don’t get to meet him if you trust Clara, which is tricky as she is very trust-able – perhaps if you do update the game later, you could weave their stories together a little.
Talking of Clara, her VA was wonderful, she did a great job conveying the character, and it was tough to leave her behind to get those bard scenes! You also did a good job filling in the Fleming part yourself, though maybe for a future update it could be nice if both of his scenes had VA, for consistency.
I had a couple of other logistics suggestions I’ll pop in the jam comments, but I see you've made an update since I played this, so maybe some won’t still be relevant.
PS – loved the little glowsheep game icon! That was a really nice touch and made me smile to see.
Very creatively done and cozy. The voice acting was also pretty clean, I just wish I could hear it better over the music in the middle. Great job without much extra help too.
Thanks! And you’re right about the audio balance. By default, Ren’Py sets the volume of each audio channel to the maximum, and I didn’t turn down the default music volume, so it ended up being the same as the voice volume. Players can adjust the volumes of each channel themselves, but I guess I should release a version where the music is set to play dimmer by default. But I might re-record the music while I’m at it (the last note is slightly shorter than I initially intended it to be because some door slammed while I was recording it, so I had to fade out the note to end just in time for the door slam to not be hearable in the recording).
